Program Description

The Master of Science degree in Hydrology requires completion of a thesis according to the general requirements of the Graduate Program.

Program Information & Policies

The student’s course of study must be approved by the advisory committee and must fulfill the general requirement for the master’s degree and must include:

  • GEOL 4040, HYDR 5007, 5008, 5010

  • Six additional credits from graduate-level hydrology courses listed in the course catalog

  • HYDR 5091 (at least six credit hours) 

  • HYDR 5092 (two credit hours) and HYDR 5093 (four credit hours); credits do not apply to the 30 hours required for the M.S. degree

  • GEOL 2320 or equivalent

  • MATH 2350, 3082, 5084 or equivalent

  • At least three additional graduate-level course credits approved by the advisory committee 

  • The Institute Graduate Degree Requirements must also be satisfied

Examples of courses other than hydrology which are appropriate for graduate programs in hydrology include, but are not limited to: BIOL 3043, 4046; CHEM 3031, 3032, 3033, 3034; GEOL 4005, 4009, 4044, 4045, 4048, 4060; GEOL 5003, 5009, 5047, 5053; GEOP 5005, 5029; MATH 3032, 3082, 3084, 4010, 4011, 4015, 4035, 4036, 4038, 4083, 4086, 4088, 5011, 5012, 5033, 5086, 5087; PETR 4045, 5023, 5044, 5046, 5064; PHYS 4021, 5026.
