Master of Science in Chemistry with Specialization in Biochemistry

Specialization/Dissertation Requirements

Students earning a Master of Science degree in chemistry can receive a specialization in Biochemistry.  The requirements for the specialization in biochemistry are the same as those for a Master of Science in Chemistry, except that:


· Six (6) credit hours of the 12 credit hours minimum of 5000-Level chemistry classes must be  from CHEM 5061 and 5047.

· A maximum of three (3) credit hours of CHEM 5081 or BIOL 5081 (directed study) may be used toward the degree.

· A minimum of six (6) credit hours of courses in biology, selected from the following, must be completed:  BIOL 3031, 3033, 3051, 3052, 3056, 4088, 5001, 5052, 5088.
