Program Description
The Undergraduate Minor in Secondary Education (UMSE) will allow current undergraduate students to become certified teachers for grades 7-12 in New Mexico schools. The program is accredited by New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) and includes 5 classes along with supervised field experiences in local secondary schools.
Program Information & Policies
Minimum of 27 credit hours required to obtain a minor in Secondary Education.
Note: A grade of C or higher is required to get credit toward an UMSE degree. (this is an institutional requirement for graduate students)
Completion requirement
Complete ALL of the following Courses:
- EDUC3040
- EDUC3041
- EDUC4001
- EDUC4003
- EDUC4005
- EDUC4014
Earn at least 9 credits from the following:
- EDUC4013
Note: A grade of C or higher is required to get credit toward an UMSE degree. (this is an institutional requirement for graduate students)
Credit Restriction: Credit will be awarded for only one of the cross-listed courses. Students may not earn duplicate credit by taking both versions.
Minor Credit Sharing Restriction: If a student takes more than one minor in the CLASS Department, only six (6) credit hours of one minor may be applied towards another minor.
