Program Description

This 30-credit hour graduate program trains students through real-world projects to research, critically analyze and communicate information and technology to diverse communities. Students in this proposed program may follow four pathways through the program, or may construct a path that meets their own career objectives: 1) Communication, branding, and project management for nonprofits and small businesses, 2) Science Communication, policy, and public outreach, 3) User experience (UX/UI) research and design, and 4) STEM Career promotion and advancement. These pathways are built upon the core courses for the master’s program in conjunction with electives from both within and outside the CLASS Department.
Completion requirement
Complete ALL of the following Courses:
  • PCOM5003
  • PCOM5004
  • PCOM5005
  • PCOM5006

6 credit hours of faculty guided research

Earn at least 6 credits from the following:
  • PCOM5091

This may be part of workplace based study or on campus research, both with an NMT faculty advisor.

Earn at least 3 credits from the following:
  • PCOM5090

Most Master Degrees at NMT require some out of department course electives, see the Graduate Office or an Academic Advisor for clarification or for additional information.
