Degree Designation

Master of Engr Management

Degree & Program Code

MEM

Program Description

The degree programs in Engineering Management are specifically designed for engineers, scientists, managers, and technologists who seek the knowledge and practical skills required to lead project teams and technical organizations through today’s competitive and fast-changing business environment. Our focus is to provide students with a challenging but inspiring educational experience that builds on their background and career interests. Our innovative and rigorous graduate curriculum is delivered live via interactive webcasts both on campus and globally through the internet. Students are encouraged to participate in the live course lectures, with accommodation (e.g. recordings) available when work or personal schedules do not permit in-class participation. The program is designed with a student’s technical background in mind, as few undergraduate engineering and science degree programs prepare their graduates for a transition to management and leadership roles. Meanwhile, our programs welcome and prepare students with non-STEM backgrounds to the realm of engineering management and industry leadership.

Program Information & Policies

Admission to the Program

Entrance into the MEM and MSEM requires competence in mathematics comparable to a calculus-based bachelor’s degree in a management, economics, engineering, or science discipline. For the MEM, preference will be given to individuals with professional work experience in an engineering, technology, or science field. The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is required for admission but may be waived depending on the applicant’s academic preparation and professional experience. Engineering Management faculty will evaluate program applicants and recommend admission to the Office of Graduate Studies. For complete information on applying to the Graduate Engineering Management Program, see the New Mexico Tech Graduate Studies website.
